Latesha Adkins, LCSW
CEO/Owner Happy Place Therapeutic Services
As a Richmond native, I have had the privilege of living and working across various parts of Virginia, gaining invaluable experience in the field of social work. My journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Social Work, with a minor in Human Services, from Mary Baldwin College in 1998. My passion for serving others led me to further my education, earning a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. Today, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia, I remain committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those I serve.
Throughout my career, I have worked extensively in both adult and juvenile criminal justice systems, as well as in various clinical settings, including community-based services, crisis stabilization, case management, social services, and outpatient therapy. My diverse professional experiences have provided me with the skills to support individuals from all walks of life, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic background, or belief system. I strive to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where individuals feel safe and empowered to address their mental health needs.
In addition to my work as a therapist, my personal journey of losing over 100 pounds naturally in just one year has deeply inspired me to help others achieve their own wellness goals. Experiencing firsthand the physical and emotional transformation that comes with weight loss, I understand the challenges and triumphs that come with this journey. This passion has led me to create a weight loss coaching program, where I integrate my expertise as a therapist with practical tools for sustainable, healthy living. My goal is to empower others to reclaim their health, boost their confidence, and experience the same incredible sense of well-being that I have found.
My work is driven by a deep commitment to fostering healing, resilience, and personal growth. Whether in mental health or weight loss, I believe in meeting people where they are and equipping them with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges. As I continue my professional journey, my mission remains the same—to advocate, support, and uplift those in need through meaningful, client-centered care.
